Occupational Therapist (Darwin)

 

  • Part-time (0.6fte) 22.8 hours per week
  • 12 month fixed-term contract

About the role:

Australian Childhood Foundation provides assessment, case management and counselling services through the Back on Track Program in Greater Darwin, Katherine, Tennant Creek and Nhulunbuy for at risk children and young people aged 8 – 17 years. Back on Track is a program offering an alternative to detention and other pathways to divert young people away from the youth justice system.

The Occupational Therapist will engage in a variety of clinical assessment and therapeutic work with children, young people and their families who are involved in the range of programs and therapeutic services delivered by ACF in the NT.

About You – Key Selection Criteria:

  • APRAH registered Occupational Therapist
  • Demonstrated capacity to work in a culturally safe manner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people, families, carers, and communities.
  • Significant experience in administering paediatric occupational therapy assessments as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Substantial experience in the area of child abuse and/or in working with traumatised children, including delivering a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions to the client group.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of trauma, attachment and neurobiology frameworks and theories.
  • A sophisticated understanding of the complexity of the service system and the issues in providing services to statutory clients.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively and the capacity to negotiate and liaise with volunteers, including carers, Territory Families, Housing and Communities, other agencies and the community.
  • Highly developed ability to provide secondary consultation and advice to clinicians and other professionals.
  • A current Northern Territory driver’s licence or equivalent.
  • A current Working with Children Check (Ochre Card) or equivalent.

Remuneration & Benefits:

The salary is determined on the basis of the employee’s experience and qualifications.
