Action Feedback with Children: Ideas and Tools to Listen Better Online Course

Introduction

It is so important to involve children and young people in decisions about the services they are participating in. Listening to their input and making it meaningful with practical tools to encourage their voice and close the feedback loop is vital to delivering better care and support.

This on-demand course introduces and explores core concepts of engaging children in feedback and evaluation processes. It takes a rights-based approach to collecting feedback and incorporates practical ideas and tools to help practitioners listen better more often, while also supporting improved service design.

For the low cost of $25, you will have access to complete the online training for six months from the date you register. If you successfully complete the knowledge checks throughout, you’ll also receive a certificate.

Action Feedback Kit stock update:

Due to the level of demand, we have presently sold out of the Action Feedback Kits. We are currently developing a revised version of the kit that will include new theme extensions and functional improvements. We are presently testing prototypes with children and young people before releasing the new version. We will update you when the new Action Feedback Kit becomes available.

What will you learn?

  • Explore ways to facilitate children’s participatory processes, based on current research and knowledge
  • Understand key principles in engaging children, of different ages, in feedback and evaluation processes
  • Apply a children’s rights framework within the context of service evaluation
  • Learn how to use the Foundation’s popular Action Feedback Kit, suited for primary school aged children and older.
  • Confidently design and create feedback or evaluation procedures relevant to your workplace and the children engaged with your services.

What difference will this make to your practice?

Meaningful participation of children and young people requires us to bring them into the dialogue. This process begins by analysing the cultural beliefs that undermine children’s contributions and beginning to remove the barriers set up by these beliefs.

When working with children and young people, we all have opportunities to amplify their voices, honour their ideas and facilitate their contributions.

Action Feedback with Children: Ideas and Tools to Listen Better will support you to identify and provide meaningful opportunities for children and young people to offer feedback about the services that they are participating in. This on-demand course, and the tool on which it is based, open these discussions and provide practical strategies and processes for stronger participation.
